Share an HTML email template for review
Upload the template, send one link, and collect approval comments pinned to the exact headline or button. No test sends to a reviewer list, and no reviewer accounts.
An HTML email template goes through rounds of copy and design review before it is sent. Attaching the .html file to an email usually fails: many mail clients show it as an attachment to download, or as raw code. Sending test emails to every reviewer works, but each round means another send, and the feedback comes back as replies that point at "the second button".
A hosted link avoids both problems. The template opens in the browser like a web page, and reviewers comment on it in place.
Step 1: export the template as one HTML file
- ✓From an email builder or a framework such as MJML, export or build the final HTML file, the one you would paste into your sending tool.
- ✓Images should use full https:// URLs, as they must in a real email. A path like images/hero.png only works on your own disk.
- ✓Merge tags such as {{first_name}} show as typed. Replace them with sample values first if reviewers should see a filled-in version.
Step 2: upload it and send the link
Drag the .html file onto the FileShare Pro dashboard and copy the link. Reviewers open it in any browser, on a laptop or a phone, with no account. Shared pages carry a noindex tag, so an unreleased campaign does not show up in search results.
Step 3: collect comments on the exact element
Turn on comments and reviewers click the headline, the button or the footer line they mean, type a name, and leave a note there. Everyone sees the same thread on the same spot, so two people do not ask for opposite changes in separate replies. Letting people comment on a web page covers how comments work.
Fix it, re-upload, keep the link
After a round of edits, upload the new file over the old one. The link stays the same, so reviewers reload instead of hunting for the latest attachment, and the earlier version stays in version history. Updating a shared link without changing it has the details.
What a browser preview does not show
A browser renders the template the way a modern browser does. Mail clients each use their own rendering, and some, such as desktop Outlook, ignore CSS that browsers support. Use the link for copy, layout and approval rounds, then send a test email to the main clients before the campaign goes out.
Frequently asked
Upload the .html file to a host that serves it as a web page and send the link. It opens in any browser, and reviewers need no account.
Many mail clients treat an attached .html file as a file to download or display as text, not a page to render. A hosted link opens it as a page.
Yes. With comments on, a reviewer clicks the element and leaves a note pinned to it, after typing a name.
Not exactly. Mail clients render HTML differently from browsers. Use the link for review and approval, and a test send for client checks.
