Share a draw.io diagram as a link
draw.io can export a diagram as one HTML file. Upload that file and send the link: people view, zoom and switch pages in the browser without a draw.io account or the desktop app.
A .drawio file only opens for people who have draw.io or know to load it into diagrams.net. A PNG opens for everyone but loses the extra pages, the zoom and any links inside the diagram. Exporting as HTML keeps those and still opens in a plain browser.
The exported page is a single .html file. Sent as an email attachment it usually downloads instead of opening, as why HTML files do not open from email explains. Uploading it and sending a link avoids that.
Export the diagram as HTML
In draw.io or diagrams.net, choose File, Export as, HTML. The diagram is stored inside the file, so the file is all you need to upload.
Drag the .html file onto the FileShare Pro dashboard and copy the link. Viewers need no account, and the page opens on desktop and phone.
- ✓The exported page loads the draw.io viewer script from viewer.diagrams.net when it opens. FileShare Pro does not block outside scripts on shared pages, so the viewer loads as it does on your machine.
- ✓Multi-page diagrams keep their pages; viewers switch between them in the toolbar.
- ✓Links you added to shapes stay clickable. They open in a new tab.
- ✓Viewers cannot save changes back to your diagram. You edit the original and upload a new export.
Update it without changing the link
When the diagram changes, export it again and upload the new file over the old one. The link stays the same: updating a shared link without changing it.
Collect feedback on the diagram
Turn on comments and reviewers can leave a note on the page after typing a name, with no account. The view count shows whether the people you sent it to have opened it.
Shared pages carry a noindex tag, so an internal architecture or process diagram does not appear in search results: sharing a preview without Google finding it. On Pro you can add a password: password-protecting an HTML page.
For diagrams written as text, see sharing a Mermaid diagram as a link.
